Conclusions
The achievements of the Fund to date have clearly demonstrated the benefits of
an integrated, inclusive approach to managing London’s waste and recycling. The
impact of a relatively small injection of public sector funding has levered further
significant contributions towards infrastructure development from the private
sector. This has been supported by public sector expenditure to operate the
facilities and the community sector.
Any future Fund should recognise the clear strengths and effectiveness of the
London Recycling Fund mechanism. This proven model could be developed in the
future by applying similar principles to funding the recycling of all London’s waste
streams, including business waste. |
